Hubble's Birthday Gift to Us: Mystic Mountain
Happy 20th Birthday to the Hubble href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/space/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Space href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/telescopes/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Telescope! While we should be showering HST with gifts, instead the telescope provides this present to us: an amazing view of what has been nicknamed "Mystic href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/earth/types-of-mountains/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Mountain. " It is just a small portion of one of the largest known href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/stars/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">star-birth regions in the href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/galaxies/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">galaxy, the href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/constellations/carina/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Carina href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/nebulae/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Nebula. Three light-year-tall towers of cool hydrogen laced with dust rise from the wall of the nebula. The scene is reminiscent of Hubble?s classic ?href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/nebulae/pillars-of-creation/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Pillars of Creation? photo from 1995, but even more striking. "Mystic Mountain has clouds of gas and dust, that have not only baby href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/stars/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">stars, but also baby href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/the-sun/solar/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">solar systems," said John Grunsfeld, Hubble-hugger, repairman and now the Deputry Director of the Space Telescope Science Institute. "4.5 billion years ago, this may be what href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/the-solar-system/our-solar-system/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">our solar system looked like."
Would you like to wish Hubble a happy birthday?
