Everyone seems to be a little confused and in the dark about the direction NASA will be headed if Obama's proposed FY2011 budget passes. Yesterday's hastily called press briefing answered a few question, but not the big issues of where we'll be going and how we're going to get beyond low href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/earth/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Earth href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/astronomy/orbit/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">orbit. Yes, Bolden did say that href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/mars/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Mars is the ultimate destination but everyone knows we can't just pick and href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/mars/how-long-does-it-take-to-get-to-mars/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">go to Mars. NASA needs a vehicle to get there, and getting there will require doing it in incremental steps, such as going to the href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/the-solar-system/moon/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Moon or href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/asteroids/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">asteroids first. There's no plan (yet) for a vehicle and no plans for those incremental steps. Hopefully Obama's "href="http://www.universetoday.com/guide-to-space/space/" class="alinks_links" title="" rel="external">Space Summit" on April 15 will provide some answers.
